You Must Engage If You Want Change

Ever wanted to get involved and do something for sickle cell disease, but perhaps you become a bit skeptical because you feel your voice would not be heard? Think your comments won't be considered? Or that its a complete waste of your time because you can't change anything? If these are a few thoughts that may have managed to paralyze your imagery of the possibilities that can be; think again!

Here are a few reasons why we need your involvement:

#1 It's your BIG giveback - Use your talents and skills to contribute to make a positive difference within your community. I think all too often, many of us down play how much of an asset we are to our very own communities.

#2 The feel good effect - Being involved feels so good! You walk away filled with an indescribable sense of pride and satisfaction that comes with how you made life a little better for those in your community.

#3 Make it a Family Affair - Because it is so easy to get totally consumed with LIFE! Find time to sit with your family and together, make a decision to commit to just one service project a year. It brings the family together in that one moment, and who knows it just may become your family's annual event; leaving a family spirit of community service for generations to come.

#4 I'm Giving and I want You to Give Too - Though you may not give financially to sickle cell disease, having you give your time is everything! When others see how important sickle cell disease is to you, seeing your passion, your commitment, and your energy, it ignites others to join the movement. You must remember causes like Cancer, ALS, Cystic Fibrosis, ect. started somewhere and many will find that those causes had very humble and small beginnings. It starts with people who have a strong desire to become part of the solution.

I want you to understand that the power lies in the people; and that power resides within you! However, there must be a willingness to pour into and invest in what we hope to manifest. If you are interested in exploring the possibilities of what can be, let's do some things together and create a better community, a stronger community, and more importantly; a healthy community. Always remember; collaboration equals elevation!
